Loved worldwide for its ability to smooth out a wide variety of blends, the merlot produces a silky, velvet texture with low acidity and tannin count. As a primary grape in the Bordeaux blend, it’s an important part of the Claret blend which also includes the Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
