Though technically part of the Highland Scotch Whisky region, the islands off of mainland Scotland (Islay excluded) are known for producing a fiercely independent variety of Scotch. The style varies so greatly it’s hard to classify, but smokier flavors and peaty undertones might hint at a whisky’s origins in this archipelago.
